Robot vacuums have been around for years now, but the already-convenient cleaning tools continue to improve, so it's always worth taking a look around to see what's available. Here are some of the best robot vacuums out there, no matter what your home requires.

Self-emptying robot vacuums

Some of the cooler robot vacuums out there not only clean the floor for you, but clean themselves, too, as they’re self-emptying.

  • The Shark RV2310AE Matrix ($430.63) has a 45-day capacity and a self-cleaning brush roll, plus a 4.3-star rating on Amazon, where reviewers say it’s especially good at nabbing up pet hair. This, like many (but not all) robot vacuums, uses LiDAR to create a map of your home.

  • The Eufy L60 ($299.99) boasts a 60-day capacity and a friendlier price tag. This one also supports home mapping via LiDAR.

  • The Eureka E10s ($599.99) uses LiDAR to navigate and is a vacuum-and-mop combo device. It's pricier than the other self-emptying picks, but the added mop functionality may make it worth it for you.

Vacuum and mop robot combos

There are actually a lot of those vacuums-and-mop dual devices out there, and not all of them are prohibitively expensive. Here are some solid options.

  • The Tikom G8000 ($159.99) cleans in straight rows instead of using LiDAR, but is a less expensive option.

  • The Honiture G20 ($159.99) is relatively slim at 2.7 inches tall, so it may fit under furniture other robots struggle to navigate. It also does not have LiDAR navigation, but has four cleaning patterns (zigzag, fixed-point, edge, and random) to choose from.

  • The Tikom L9000 ($249.99) uses LiDAR navigation to create accurate maps of your home, and also supports up to 14 "no-go" zones, allowing you to tell it to avoid certain areas.

  • The Shark Matrix Plus 2in1 ($499.99) makes a laser map of your home in about 20 minutes, according to WIRED, which gave this vacuum a 8/10 rating.

Other solid picks

These models don't have mopping or self-emptying features but have other aspects that make them worth considering, such as price or power.

  • The iRobot Roomba j7+ ($580) is especially adept at avoiding obstacles, which is why PC Mag made it their top robot vacuum pick. Whether you leave your shoes in the middle of the room, your kids don’t pick up their toys, or your dog has an accident, it won’t cause a catastrophe.

  • To maximize the benefits of what Roomba has to offer, try the J9+ vacuum and mop (currently $998.98). Here’s a full review that highlights its quiet operation, self-emptying function, and skill at avoiding smearing messes around the floor.

  • The EICOBOT robot vacuum ($89.99) is good for first-time buyers because it’s cheap, slim, and quiet—plus it has a cool design on it, if you’re into that sort of thing.

  • Another ultra-slim option is the Eufy RoboVac G30 ($227.59), which PC Mag says still has strong suction, despite its little size.
